Gujarat Titans came out with a solid intent after being asked to bat first. The innings was powered by a brilliant knock from skipper Shubman Gill, who played a captain’s innings and scored 90 runs off 55 balls, smashing 10 boundaries and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 163.64 before falling to Vaibhav Arora.

Youngster Sai Sudharsan gave great support at the top with a fluent 52 off 36 balls, including 6 fours and a six, contributing to a steady opening stand before being dismissed by Andre Russell.

Jos Buttler, who has been playing a vital role in the middle-order, fired a quick 41* off just 23 balls. Though he didn’t clear the ropes, his 8 fours helped maintain the momentum through the death overs.

Rahul Tewatia couldn’t make an impact and was dismissed for a duck in just 2 balls by Harshit Rana. However, Shahrukh Khan added a late spark with an unbeaten 11 off just 5 deliveries, hitting one six and ending the innings on a high note.

With a few extras (4 runs) from the opposition, GT finished strong with a total of 198/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing 199 for victory, Kolkata Knight Riders had a disastrous start as Rahmanullah Gurbaz was trapped LBW by Mohammed Siraj in the first over for just 1 run.

Sunil Narine gave a glimpse of his hitting ability with 17 off 13 balls, including 2 boundaries and a six, before he was dismissed by Rashid Khan.

Venkatesh Iyer struggled for fluency, scoring 14 off 19 balls before Sai Kishore got him caught out. Rinku Singh tried to accelerate with 17 off 14 balls (1 four, 1 six), but his dismissal by Ishant Sharma dented the chase.

Andre Russell showed intent with a 21-run cameo from 15 balls, hitting 3 fours and 1 six, but he too was stumped off Rashid Khan’s bowling.

From there, the lower order collapsed under pressure. Ramandeep Singh scored just 1 before being caught and bowled by Prasidh Krishna. Moeen Ali followed him quickly without scoring, caught by Shahrukh Khan off Prasidh.

Impact Player Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the only lower-order batter to fight back, scoring a quick 27 not out off just 13 balls (3 fours, 1 six), but the damage had already been done. Harshit Rana remained unbeaten on 1.

KKR finished their innings at 159/8 in 20 overs, falling short by 39 runs.
Players yet to bat: Varun Chakaravarthy, Vaibhav Arora.

With this 39-run win, GT strengthens its position in the points table, while KKR will have to regroup quickly to bounce back in the next game.
